Dismantling the highest crane.

Over the past few days, an impressive operation has been taking place at Central Malley: the dismantling of the site’s second crane, culminating at a height of 95 metres with a span of 60 metres. Visible from all over the Lausanne conurbation, it alone symbolised the scale of the project.

For this exceptional manoeuvre, a 500-tonne mobile crane was mobilised, capable of lifting loads to a height of over 140 metres. The logistical and technical challenge was brilliantly met by the teams on site.

More than just a technical event, this milestone underlines the momentum of the project and its progress. The contours of the neighbourhood are taking shape, the volumes are being refined, and the future retail, office and residential areas are taking shape with precision. For residents and future users alike, the project is becoming increasingly tangible.

Central Malley, managed by SBB Real Estate, is continuing its transformation with the ambition of creating a mixed, accessible and sustainable neighbourhood. This new urban heart has already been welcoming its first tenants for a few weeks now, and soon shops, businesses, local services and places to live will also be joining the district, just a stone’s throw from public transport and major transport routes.

Stay tuned: other important milestones will be reached over the coming months, right up to final delivery.
